Immersed in music since his youngest age, Alexis Gournel very rapidly found a passion for the piano. Musician with multiple facets, he regularly performs as a soloist, exploring the various jewels of the piano repertoire. Also very active in contemporary music, Alexis has had the opportunity to work with composers such as Kaija Saariaho, Nicolas Bacri as well as Tristan Murail during the festival "Aspects des Musiques d'Aujourd'hui".
Chamber music occupies a very important place in his life. In 2014, he founded with violinist Camille Fonteneau and cellist Raphaël Jouan the Trio Hélios. Alexis also shares a musical affinity with saxophone player Antonio Garcia Jorge. Their album entitled « La Follia Nuova » was released by IBS Classical.
Born in Normandie, he began his musical studies at the Conservatoire of Caen in Emmanuelle Jeannenez's class. He then pursued his studies at the Conservatoire of Saint-Maur with Fernando Rossano, before benefiting from Hortense Cartier-Bresson's pedagogy at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. As a Master's degree graduate in piano, he regularly receives counseling from Zhu Xiao-Mei, Bruno Rigutto, François-René Duchâble and Pascal Devoyon during masterclasses.
